Metal soaps are the reaction products of organic acids with 6-30 C atoms and metals of alkaline, alkaline earth and transition metal groups. Metal soaps are used as lubricants, heat stabilizers in plastic industry, driers in paints. The aim of this project is to develop the production process of zinc stearate. Double decomposition method will be used to o btain pure zinc stearate. This method consumes large amount of water and causes environmental waste problems. Thus the method will be developed to minimize water consumption and to optimize other parameters that effect the reaction. The product will be character, ized by DSC,TGA and IR techniques. The zinc steararte produced and its mixtures with natural zeolites will be tested in PVC stabilization. It will also be tested as combustion aids of fuels. This project will provide know how about production and industrial applictions of natur al zeolites.
