Groundwater is an important source of irrigation, drinking water and other human activities. With the growth in population, and agricultural and industrial activities the groudwater use has increased dramatically. However, not only the groundwater use, but also has the contamination of groundwater increased. In Torbalı region, large demands of drinking water and irrigation water are supplied from groundwater. In this region, artesian wells which are drilled without permission cause the depletion of groundwater. Furthermore, industrial and agricultural activities with fertilizers, and pesticides contaminate the groundwater day by day. In this study, to investigate the quality of groundwater in Torbalı region samples will be collected from 15 different sampling points which will be chosen according to geological properties of Torbalı region. Drinking water quality criteria, which are pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, hardness, Ca, Mg, K, Na, total organic carbon, nitrate will be examined. As, Cu, Cr, Cd, Pb, Zn, COD, NO32-, Cl-, CN- be also examined. As, Cu, Cr, Cd, Pb, Zn will be analyzed with inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). pH, temperature, electrical conductivity will be determined in-situ. Total organic carbon will be analyzed with TOC apparatus. Nitrate, cyanide, chloride, chemical oxygen demand (COD) will be examined with spectrophotometer. |
