ENTRANCE
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATE PROGRAMS |
|
 |
All
applicants of Turkish nationality must take a written entrance
examination. A student applying for admission to the entrance
examination for a master's program must have a bachelor's degree
from a four year institution. A student applying for admission to
the entrance examination for a doctoral program must have a master's
degree.
Entrance examinations are given twice a year before the start of
each semester. Official notices are given of the dates and places of
the entrance examinations.
Each Graduate School Department (GSD) gives its own entrance
examination upon the approval of the Administrative Board of the
Graduate School. All entrance examinations are given in both English
and Turkish for fall semesters and only in English for spring
semesters. Entrance examinations generally cover basic topics in the
field to which the student is seeking admission and students are
free to take this examination either in English or Turkish.
Applicants will also be required to take an English Proficiency
Examination. Applicants must pass both the Subject Examination and
the English Proficiency Examination to be admitted. |

ADMISSION
OF FOREIGN STUDENTS TO GRADUATE PROGRAMS |
Foreign
students may be admitted without taking an entrance examination. The
decision to admit a foreign student to a graduate program is made by
the Administrative Board of the Graduate School upon the
recommendation of the GSD Chairman concerned. Foreign students
applying from abroad must therefore obtain an application form from
the Registrar's Office and submit the completed form together with
two letters of reference and official transcripts for all graduate
and undergraduate level coursework completed up to the time of
application. All foreign applicants must submit their application
files to the Registrar's Office.
The applicants are also required to take TOEFL (Test of English as a
Foreign Language) and GRE (Graduate Record Exam) exams given by the
Educational Testing Service (ETS), and they must make sure that
their official TOEFL and GRE scores are forwarded to the Registrar's
Office. Applicants to graduate programs in Management must take the
GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test). Applications to the
Graduate School will not be considered complete without the official
TOEFL and GRE/GMAT scores. However, applicants who are not able to
submit TOEFL and GRE scores may take the entrance examination like
Turkish applicants.
For application purposes an official transcript is defined as a
record which bears the signature of the registrar and the seal of
the institution.
All correspondence concerning admission should be addressed to:

Foreign students eligible for admission should obtain a student visa
from the nearest Turkish Consulate; an official letter of
acceptance, indicating the category of admission, will be provided
to them for this purpose. Every new foreign student is expected to
contact the Foreign Student Advisor in the Office of the Registrar
upon arrival. |
