Catalog Description :

A broad introduction to basic statistical concepts. Laboratory techniques for verifying theoretical concepts. Methods for analyzing and presenting data. Report preparation and presentation of technical reports. A number of experiments about fluid mechanics, heat transfer, materials science, system analysis, process control and instrumentation.

Course Objectives :

The course is designed to give the students the necessary background for laboratory techniques in mechanical engineering. Upon completion of this class, the student is expected to have an understanding of the following analytical techniques: XRD, SEM, optical microscope, vibration testing, temperature, pH and viscosity measurements, thermal conduction measurements, basic electrical measurements, the use of multimeters, etc.
