Credit Structure: (3-0)3 Catalog Description : Introduction to geothermal energy. The use of geothermal energy. Electricity generation. Direct use applications: space and district heating, space cooling, greenhouse heating, heat pumps, aquaculture, industrial applications. Environmental impacts of geothermal applications. Geothermal laws. Field trips to a geothermal power plant and some geothermal direct use applications. Term project. Course Objectives : The aim is to introduce geothermal energy from its occurrence to end-use with the involvement of various disciplines. The way of using geothermal energy is introduced by examples. Field trips allow the students to evaluate and reinforce what they learnt during the lectures.
