| Research Interest |
Testing,
processing and characterization of refractory ceramics, corrosion of
basic refractories like magnesia in steel refining vessels and
chrome-magnesia in cement kilns. Ceramic
synthesis and processing in general, synthesis of cordierite, anorthite
and spinel via mechanochemical techniques, use of statistical
techniques especially response surface designs,
Fuzzy Logic and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) in modeling of ceramic
material systems like cement strength prediction and tile
process parameters prediction. Use of fractals for ceramic
microstructure modelling. Analysis of historical ceramics from
the Byzantine and Ottoman as well as those from the Emirates
periods, mortars and plasters and their physical and pozzolanic
properties. The pozzolanic activities of clay minerals heat
treated at different temperatures, Harbor
sediment remediation via incorporation into a structural clay product.
Immobilization of hazardous elements within the harbour
sediments in a vitrous ceramic body. Packing of powder mixtures
with different particle size distributions to produce a dense
ceramic product.
