Joining European Union and expressing our will to work with them,
emphasis should be given to develop a concept inducive of constant
innovation and constant creativity. This means entrepreneurial
companies will be shifting investment areas towards the field of converting
technological inventions into economic values. It means diverting the
investments such as buying and selling of land and buildings to other
investments of more sophisticated nature - like development of high
tech areas - technoparks - and to new ideas like
venture capital for supporting the
technological innovations.
Technology is becoming a state policy in Turkey. Such a decision is
shifting exports to contain more higher valued goods and inventions.
If persistently followed it will, in turn decrease the pressure of
devaluations in order to keep the exports at required levels. Such a
system will provide convenient working facilities for creative people,
thereby increasing their innovative efficiency. In turn this acts
like a magnet on companies - from the larger renowned down to smaller.
In this way a fertile technological environment is formed. Self maintained
growth and development will be the result which will surpass national
boundaries. In shorter terms : A technopark has been established.
Some countries are small and therefore they have the natural advantage
of closeness of people and resources. This fact is used very intelligently
in some small advanced countries. Where there are cities with vast
distance apart from each other like in the U.S.A. they create technoparks.
Local authorities promote colleges, universities and high tech companies
to come and settle in their territory by advertising very favorable
conditions of rent, property or even taxes.
Technoparks are made of two components. The physical buildings and
the non-physicals i.e. the innovation process paradigma. They are
equally important in the long run. There are many examples in the
world that have either one or the other that is not considered very
successful. The secret of success lies to balance both. The innovation
process paradigma is a kind of software of the technopark that leads
to success or failure. Since 1992 we are in the process

The Environmental Technology Park will not just bring carefully
selected technical people and establishments together but also will
bring a hotel, a convention center, an aquatic center and office
buildings; in a community providing modern telecommunication center,
fresh drinking water from the sea and electricity produced by wind
and sun as well as utilization of geothermal energy.
