 The Mission Statement

 

          The Department of Food Engineering at Izmir Institute of Technology was founded with the aim of developing knowledge and skills in those areas in which need for knowledge and skill was going to emerge with urgency in the new century. 

           The mission of the department is to foster an environment for advanced study and education and industry-driven    research. From this point, to conduct state-of-the-art research projects and to convey postgraduate students current information and experimental experience concerning new technologies in the area, to encourage them to achieve an engineering vision as well as learn to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in courses. The courses offered in the department seek to provide students with insight into virtually every aspect of food  engineering. In our department, research in food engineering spans over the areas of food quality and safety, fruits and vegetable processing technology, food packaging, food biotechnology, HACCP and plant cell cultures.
